Over the years we have always undertaken some sort of bike ride, one year we even had 2 tandem bikes and rode 110 miles to Abersoch.
6am and Paul Yarwood and Nige Durose await the start gun!! See more pics on the gallery
With only a few injuries, such as Nige falling of a stationary bike, blaming the toe clips and a few sore bottoms for those who did not wear the infamous padded undies. At least this time Joe Durkin managed to put them on the right way round.
£7,000 was raised from the day for The Joshua Tree

It’s a Knockout in 2009 was held to raise funds for local Charity The Joshua Tree. Here’s how the day went, in their words….
“Wow what a day we had on Saturday 13th June 2009. All the hard work from Whitegate Charity Trust payed off beyond our wildest dreams! The weather was fantastic and the crowd turned out to enjoy the sun shine. All the teams really entered into the spirit of the day with a wide array of fancy dress, from cowboys to bumblebees! Graham Fisher and his team were tremendous and encouraged everyone to throw themselves into the games end enjoy themselves.
We were also joined for the day by the Fire Service who put on a spectacular display of the consequences of trying to deal with a chip pan fire with water.
The team from Whitegate Charity worked tremendously hard all day serving burgers, cakes and coffee. At one point the bar had been drunk dry so a quick trip to restock was required. Others directed traffic to keep the whole event running smoothly and some provided entertainment for the children with a selection of crafts to do.
Later in the evening we were entertained with a selection of live bands who came to add a great atmosphere to round off the day.
We would like to give our tremendous thanks to the whole team from Whitegate Charity Trust for a truly spectacular day”

The Whitegate Charity Trust raised £7,000 for the Joshua Tree.
Based in sandiway, Nr Northwich, The Joshua Tree’s aim is to develop a holiday house and support centre in Cheshire, where children with a life threatening illness can come with their families for a FREE short break.

2008 Its a Knockout was a great success. £5,500 was raised for North West Ambulance. The weather was the only disappointment, but everyone had a fantastic time never the less. After six months of hard work and planning, the It’s a Knockout charity event finally took place at the Whitegate football pitch, on Saturday July 19th. Despite the poor weather the event was a great success with over 20 teams & 200 competitors competing for the grand charity shield. It was a spectacular event with many of the teams dressing up for the occasion, an amazing mix of Pirates, Commando’s, Super Heroes’ Flintstones characters and even Rugby lads dressed as Hawaiian girls, all of a which added to a great atmosphere on the day!
Fun, foam and water abound the eventual winners of our inaugural event, were the seniors from Northwich Rugby club, congratulat ions to them for a fine performance on the day.
Following the main event competitors and spectators were treated to an evening of entertainment by local band Cover story. The curtains were finally brought down on a brilliant day, at around 11pm when a fleet of taxis ferried the tired and the weary home, thus bringing
the event to successful conclusion.
A big thank you to everyone involved in making the event.
“Well done to you Martin and the team for a great event on Saturday. Shame about the weather but it didn’t stop us having a great time. I know all the hard work that goes into these things so pass on my congratulations from all at Northwich Rugby club, Men, Ladies and colts. Make sure you put us down for next year”

Whitegate to Bala and back, when we raised £1000 for Whitegate Primary School.
Members from the Whitegate charity Trust cycled to Bala and back in September, in aid of the Village school. Last year a team of 10 took it in turns on two tandems, to do the 110 mile journey in an amazing 8 hours & 12 minutes, raising over £2000 for Hebden Green special
needs school. This year the lads did the event on individual bikes, hoping to match or beat last years time!
